What to Know Before the VPN Setup
Although setting up a VPN is fairly straight forward, make sure you backup the data on your phone or tablet before completing this process. You should also consider having your device charged above 60 percent so the device doesn’t die before the VPN setup is complete. Try to stray away from sketchy VPN companies that might sell your information. You’ll learn in the following method that we are only going to recommend VPN companies that require a fee to use their services. This is primarily because a VPN is only as good as its security. Most companies that provide servers for free are still making money, but they’re making this money by selling your information. Stray away from these and you should be fine.
Method 1: How to Use PPTP Configuration for VPN on Android
This method is quite simple, and it is designed to work on Android versions 4.x.x and above. This has been tested on previous versions, with success, but you might consider something else if you have problems.
1. Open Settings

2. Select the VPN Option
Under settings, locate the VPN option. Click on this and find a + sign on the top right-hand corner of your screen. Click this button to proceed.
3. Edit VPN Profile
This will open a window that is called Edit VPN Profile. It might pull some default names, but you can modify anything that you want on the screen. Locate the name field and call the virtual private network whatever you want. For example, we will call this VPN in Touch. You use this name to reference the VPN the future. You can leave the type of VPN as PPTP. This is simply a method for implementing your VPN. It stands for point-to-point tunneling protocol.
4. Connect to Your VPN
When you are ready to connect to a VPN, click on the VPN button you want to use. This will bring up a Connect to VPN screen, where you can type in your username and password. Congratulations! You’ve now set up your own virtual private network with your Android phone or tablet. You can now access any information files that you want on a secure, private network. You can even access blocked or censored websites that you might not be able to find in your country or on an organization’s network.
Method 2: How to Set Up VPN with HideMan VPN
For this, we used an app called HideMan VPN. You can download it on your device by clicking the button below.
1. Select Your Country
Open the app and get started by selecting your country.
2. Connect to VPN
Click on the Connect button and then the VPN is created in your phone. Congrats! You get a few blocks of time for this app, so once that block is down you have to start a new one. Then when the total time limit is over you have to pay for the app.
Method 3: How to Set Up VPN with Hotspot Shield VPN for Privacy
This app is just wonderful for beginners, but it doesn’t have as many features as you might find with Hideman or some other apps. You also have to start paying for the app after a certain period of time.
1. Select Your Country
Find your country and select it.
2. Turn On Full Protection
Change the Full Protection tab to On, and this connects you to a unique IP VPN. Once your time limit runs out you can always upgrade to receive more time.
