Those resulted in oddly low-quality selfies and made a lot of people feel bad. Thankfully, manufacturers now know that many people take more front facing camera photos than the back one. Taking a selfie has never been this easier and thanks to the power of Android hardware most people look amazing in selfies. Unfortunately, I still look like a runaway inmate when I accidentally open the front camera of my smartphone. Even though now I have an eight megapixel front cam, I still look bad but at least it’s in HD. That being said, if you really want to improve your selfie game, you should also take a look at the best selfie camera apps for Android. Options never hurt anyone, thankfully almost every major Android smartphone manufacturer wants to cater to the selfie fans and released a great smartphone for the very purpose. Must Read: Android Phones – Every Android Users Must Know About Note: The 10 best selfie phones for Android are in no particular order. I highly recommend that you go through the whole list before deciding which one suits your personal needs. I have tested almost every smartphone in the list personally and I found them to be highly capable of shooting beautiful selfies with ease. I would also recommend the smartphones which come with front-facing flash above the rest as they are far more capable of taking lowlight selfies than other smartphones.
LG V10 – $602
LG has really stepped up their game in recent times and I have been personally really impressed. Their latest flagship smartphone, the LG V10 comes with top-notch specs and amazing metallic body to support them. Everything Samsung did wrong with their latest smartphones, LG did them right. From including a micro SD card slot to a removable battery, the South Korean company is catering to the power user market really well. This was exactly the reason why I gravitated towards LG when I upgraded. Talking about the dual front facing cameras, yes you read that right; there are two front facing cameras on this smartphone. They are both five megapixel cameras, but there is a key difference between their natures. One is a standard 80° lens which is great for single person portraits but the other one is a far wider 120° one which is amazing for group pictures. If you don’t want to carry a selfie stick with you wherever you go, this might be the smartphone you need. The wider angle lens on the LG V10 makes it an ideal camera phone to take group selfies ( If you don’t want to carry a selfie stick with you wherever you go, this might be the smartphone you need. The wider angle lens on the LG V10 makes it an ideal camera phone to take group selfies (Groupfies?). Not to mention, the phone also is a flagship one this means you are not just spending money on a selfie smartphone but a true high-quality flagship that will last for years. Notable Feature: Dual friends facing cameras makes it an ideal for shooting portraits as well as group pictures.
Moto X Pure Edition – $399
If you’re residing in the United States, then getting other smartphones to play nice with every carrier can be a pain. Thankfully, the Moto X Pure Edition is made by an American company and comes fully unlocked right out of the gate. The Android smartphone works on all major US networks, which according to me, is a great benefit. It only adds to the appeal of the smartphone that it is highly affordable when compared to other flagships released recently. With a 5.7-inch quad HD display, immersive stereo sound and a 21-megapixel back camera, this is one affordable yet powerful smartphone. Coming to the front of the phone, we will be able to find a 5-megapixel wide-angle selfie shooter. But that is not why the smartphone is on the list, it is because of the dedicated front facing flash it includes. The front flash is surprisingly strong and does pack a punch. Although the 5MP camera is not an outstanding performer in low light; with the added benefit of a great flash, it does a remarkable job. If you are in the market for a solid mid-range phablet, Motorola has the best smartphone this year. Notable Feature: The front camera comes with a good flash.
HTC Desire Eye E1 – $199
HTC Desire series has been one of the best budget/mid-range series around and this smartphone is no exception. HTC has made some amazingly beautiful looking Android devices these past years. HTC Desire Eye E1 is another beautiful selfie Android phone that doesn’t strain your pockets so much. The 5.2 inches screens combined with a full HD resolution makes it an ideal one hand use smartphone. The Snapdragon 801 processor keeps everything running smooth. The 5.2 inches screens combined with a full HD resolution makes it an ideal one hand use smartphone. The Snapdragon 801 processor keeps everything running smooth. On the back, you will find a nice 13 MP camera with autofocus and dual tone LEDs. Usually, when smartphones have a 13 MP camera on the back, the front one is of lower quality. That is, however, not the case with this smartphone. It has a 13 MP front-facing camera with autofocus and dual tone LED flash. The front camera also features HDR which is a rare sight on front-facing cameras. Considering the price of the smartphone, these are some amazing specs. Notable Feature: The dual tone LED keeps that ghastly look from the pictures away giving natural skin tones.
Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro – $215
This 5.3 inch Android smartphone is housed in a beautiful body. The flat slap design of the smartphone looks remarkable, especially in the golden color. The smartphone has an IPS display and runs on Android 4.4. There is 2 GB of RAM as well as 16 GB of internal storage. The smartphone has a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The back has a 13 MP camera but that is not why the smartphone is on the best selfie phones for Android list. The front also houses a 13 MP camera with can capture some high-resolution selfies. However, the price is somewhat odd considering the smartphone is truly a mid-range one. This is a genuine downside. Notable Feature: The stylish body looks very tempting.
Asus ZenFone Selfie – $277.98
I love Asus, I have been using their hardware for a long time and they have never disappointed me. My old Asus monitor is running for almost 7 years daily for 8-10 hours. Naturally, I was inclined to purchase an Asus tablet and to no surprise it is running perfectly fine. The Asus ZenFone is a stellar device that has outstanding performance and most importantly, reliably. Personally, I have used the non-selfie model of the ZenFone and it was a pleasure to use. The smartphone has a 5.5 inch IPS capacitive screen and Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The real meat of this selfie phone is the 13 MP front facing camera with autofocus. The smartphone has dual LED flash which comes in handy in low light situations. The dual tone nature of the flash makes the sink look natural in the flash. Notable Feature: The flash spreads evenly even when your friends are a bit behind you.
LG G4 – $371
LG G4 was one of the best flagships released in 2015 and thankfully it is now priced really reasonably. The smartphone comes with a 5.5 inch quad HD screen with superb pixel count. The screen is also very slightly curved to give it an agronomic feel. It was last year’s flagship and it shows in the specs sheet as well. While Samsung moved towards a unified body, this smartphone retained the removable battery and the microSD card slot. The smartphone also comes with an IR blaster which is somewhat essential for using the best remote apps for Android. Coming on the front is an 8 MP shooter that is more than capable of taking high quality selfies. The camera comes with autofocus powers and a surprisingly crisp sensor. I was blown away with the quality of footage I was able to capture with the smartphone, it almost rivaled the videos I captures with the main camera of my last smartphone. The smartphone has something called Palm Capture, it basically allows you to show your palm and make a fist, and the smartphone will automatically take a selfie after 3 seconds. I have found myself using the stock app and not the best selfie camera apps for Android in a long while with this phone. Notable Feature: The palm capture feature results in zero shake photos.
Samsung Galaxy J7 – $239.99
If you are in the market for a dual-SIM smartphone that can take awesome selfies, then Samsung Galaxy J7 is the one you are looking for. The smartphone comes with a 5.5 inch HD screen which is Super AMOLED in nature. While the resolution is nothing to write home about, the screen colors are a joy to look at. It is a budget range smartphone through and through and it doesn’t even try to take on the expensive counterparts. Although the price is somewhat odd considering the specs are not that impressive. However, it is one of the few best selfie phones for Android that comes with Dual SIM Capabilities. The front houses a 5 MP camera with f/2.2 and 23 mm focal length. The camera is a serviceable one but it’s the front-facing flash that makes it a great selfie phone to use. The flash will allow you to take remarkable low light photos with ease and the 5 MP camera will capture fairly good quality. Notable Feature: Dual SIM with front facing LED flash.
BLU Vivo Selfie – $119.31
BLU makes some good low-cost Android smartphones and this one is no exception. If your budget is tight and you need a good selfie smartphone, this one will do just fine. The price is also very affordable, if you want to get a smartphone for your kids as well. The smartphone comes with a 4.8 HD Super AMOLED display which is a nice balance between size and quality. The processor is a MediaTek quad-core one that will be fine for most users. The smartphone also comes with dual SIM capabilities as well as Android 5.0 Lollipop on board. The front camera is an 8 MP Sensor with an LED flash that will make low light photos stand out with ease. Notable Feature: The price is too good for what you will be getting.
Samsung Galaxy J5 – $159.97
This is the younger brother of the Galaxy J7 we featured an entry back but comes with some compelling selfie taking features. The smartphone has a 5 inch Super AMOLED screen and Android 5.1 on board. There is also a quad core 1.2 GHZ Adreno 306 processor which will keep the lights on full capacity. The smartphone comes with a 13 MP primary camera with auto focus and flash. The front camera measures at 5 MP and also comes with an LED flash. The smartphone is priced lucratively and will be a good fit for those seeking a mid-range selfie shooter. Notable Feature: The smartphone has a Dual SIM slot.
Sony Xperia C5 – $325
While a ton of smartphones on the best selfie phones for Android list featured a Sony sensor in them, it is ironic that Sony has yet to make a statement in the selfie market. The Sony Xperia C5 Ultra, while a great selfie shooter is still not what we have been accustomed to expect from the Japanese tech giant. The flagship smartphones from Sony have been featuring 20 MP plus cameras on the front and I was hoping that they would extend that love to selfie lovers as well. However, the Sony Xperia C5 is the closest we will get to have a stellar Sony sensor on the front side as well. The smartphone comes with a 13 MP front camera with an LED Flash and autofocus abilities. The camera is also able to shoot full HD video at 30 frames per seconds. Notable Feature: A Sony 13 MP sensor on the front is fully capable of taking amazing selfies.
Conclusion
These were a few best selfie phones for Android available right now in the market. I’m pretty sure I have missed a couple of other Smartphones as well, especially from Chinese manufacturers. However, as they are not readily available state side, it didn’t make sense to include them just yet. Hopefully, by the next year, we will see some great additions to this list.
